Speedways Across America Reach Out to Fans Through Cell Phones
More than 50 speedways, dragways and raceways use RainedOut to keep in touch
LEESBURG, Va., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnilert®, LLC, maker of RainedOut, the first text message service for sports leagues and clubs, today announced that more than 50 speedways across America are using RainedOut to stay in touch with auto racing fans, drivers and staff.
Thompson International Speedway's Director of Operations, Russ Dowd, said, "It's very difficult when you have an outside venue and people are traveling long distances to participate either as a competitor or a fan. If a decision is made to cancel an event due to weather, we want to be able to get that information to them as quickly as possible.
"RainedOut is extremely easy, convenient and it's a great service. For those speedways that are not using RainedOut, I would highly recommend that they give it favorable consideration. It's a wonderful service for the speedway to be able to communicate very, very quickly with their fans and competitors.
"I also think it develops a good relationship between the speedway and the fan/competitor, because they know that we're making an effort to get that information to them as quickly as possible. The feedback from fans has been very positive and that's a really good sign."
Scott Running is Senior Director of Media and Information at Stafford Motor Speedway. Mr. Running said, "RainedOut is a quick and easy way for us to let people know we're not racing tonight. It's very user-friendly. It takes thirty seconds to use. We login, type in a message, hit send and it's taken care of.
"For us, the key factor is the convenience. It's not time consuming - it's very easy to do. And, it's not something that we have to maintain here. People sign up for it through the Web site.
"If you haven't tried it yet, I would highly recommend it. You can reach a mass number of people in a very short amount of time. My phone rings within seconds of sending a message. We will absolutely use RainedOut again next season."
Andy Cusack, CEO of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, said, "We have thousands of fans looking to get here on a race day and using RainedOut allows us to communicate with them if weather is questionable. It allows us to tell them everything is okay and it's all right to go to the races, or if rain has forced a cancellation.
"It's been a phenomenal service for our fans and drivers, particularly for those that come from hundreds of miles away. It allows us to turn them around before they spend too much money on fuel, which is a big concern today with the high cost of gas and many of our drivers using large trucks to haul big heavy trailers."
Some of the racetracks that use the RainedOut service include: Albuquerque Dragway, Albany Saratoga Speedway, Attica Raceway Park, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Bemidji Speedway, Canandaigua Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway, Clinton County Raceway, DER Racing Series, Devils Bowl Speedway-VT, Douglas County Speedway, Dunn Hill 2 Speedway, Hesston Speedway, Hillvalley Speedway, Hummingbird Speedway, I-80 Speedway, Island Dragway, Lake Erie Speedway, Lebanon Valley Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, Little Valley Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Montana Raceway Park, Natural Bridge Speedway, Naugle Speedway, North Central Speedway, Oahe Speedway, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Ona Speedway, Onaway Speedworld, Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway, Port Royal Speedway, Proctor Speedway, Putnam County Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, Richmond Dragway, Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, Rt 58 Raceway, Seekonk Speedway, Sharon Speedway, Stafford Motor Speedway, Sturgis Dragway, Super DIRTcar Series, Susquehanna Speedway Park, Texas Motorplex, Texas Raceway, Texoma Motor Speedway, Thompson International Speedway, Thunderhill Raceway, Thunder Mountain Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, Volusia Speedway Park, Williams Grove Speedway, and Woodhull Raceway.
