Springboard: Southwest 2002 Launches Venture Capital Forum Showcasing Women Entrepreneurs

    DALLAS, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Forum Producers, Forum for Women
 Entrepreneurs -- Texas and Springboard Enterprises announce a Dec. 3, 2001
 deadline to receive applications from women entrepreneurs interested in
 presenting at the Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum.  The
 forum will showcase women-led and women-founded high-growth companies seeking
 seed to later stage funding.  Co-hosted by Fidelity Investments and Capital
 Across America, Springboard: Southwest 2002 will be March 21, 2002 at
 Fidelity's Westlake Campus in the Dallas Metroplex.  Women entrepreneurs can
 apply online at www.springboard2000.org .
     Companies selected to present at Springboard: Southwest 2002 will
 represent high-growth industries, including technology, software,
 biotechnology and life sciences.  Presenters must be women with a significant
 equity position and a key management role (CEO, President, Founder or
 Co-Founder, CFO, COO, CIO or CTO).  Companies headquartered in Texas,
 Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Arizona and New Mexico will be given priority
 consideration, but the process is open to entrepreneurs across the country.
     Springboard: Southwest 2002 is the eighth Forum hosted under the
 Springboard banner.  To date, the Forums have attracted more than
 2000 applicants and featured 176 women entrepreneurs presenting their
 companies to investors.  Springboard presenters have raised nearly
 $600 million in equity capital.
     "As the leading entrepreneurial service organization in the community, we
 have the opportunity to work with many dynamic women entrepreneurs who are
 building high-growth companies," said Jamie Wyrick, president of the Forum for

 highly qualified investment opportunities."
     Recruitment is well underway.  In addition to a regional launch event
 hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, launch events also were held in
 Dallas and Houston and were hosted by the National Association of Women
 Business Owners and the Houston Technology Center.  The Capital Network will
 host an additional launch event Oct. 30, 2001 in Austin.  Leaders from the
 entire Southwest Region are invited to participate in a Virtual Launch on the
 Web Nov. 16, 2001.
