DALLAS, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- A six-state, virtual venture capital
symposium aimed at connecting women entrepreneurs with venture capitalists
across the Southwest will take place online Nov. 16, 2001 from 10 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. CST. The Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum will
host the Web-based Virtual Entrepreneur Symposium to provide a real-time
connection between venture capitalists and entrepreneurs throughout Arizona,
Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. To register for the

The virtual symposium is the final stepping-stone in the education and
recruiting process leading up to the Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture
Capital Forum to be held in Dallas on March 21, 2002. Women entrepreneurs

The virtual symposium will feature a panel discussion with leading
investors from each state. Women entrepreneurs participating in the event
will have the opportunity to ask investors questions and gain new insights.
"Our goal for this symposium is to not only bridge the geographic
boundaries, which separate the investors and entrepreneurs, but also to bridge
or connect their diverse networks," said Jamie Wyrick, president of the Forum
for Women Entrepreneurs - Texas and co-producer of the Springboard: Southwest
2002 Venture Capital Forum.
Springboard: Southwest 2002 is the eighth Forum to be held under the
Springboard banner. The Forums have attracted more than 2,000 applicants and
featured 176 women entrepreneurs presenting their companies to investors.
Springboard presenters have raised nearly $600 million in equity capital and
80 percent of the presenters continue to grow their businesses despite the
recent economic slow-down.
Companies selected to present at Springboard: Southwest 2002 will
represent emerging technology companies and traditional companies, which
leverage technology to enhance their product or service. Presenters must be
women with a significant equity position and a key management role (CEO,
President, Founder or Co-Founder, CFO, COO, CIO or CTO). Companies
headquartered in the southwest regional states are given priority
