Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum to Host Virtual Entrepreneur Symposium
DALLAS, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- A six-state, virtual venture capital symposium aimed at connecting women entrepreneurs with venture capitalists across the Southwest will take place online Nov. 16, 2001 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CST. The Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum will host the Web-based Virtual Entrepreneur Symposium to provide a real-time connection between venture capitalists and entrepreneurs throughout Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. To register for the symposium, go to www.springboard2000.org . The virtual symposium is the final stepping-stone in the education and recruiting process leading up to the Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum to be held in Dallas on March 21, 2002. Women entrepreneurs building high growth companies are encouraged to apply online at www.springboard2000.org by Dec. 3, 2001. Previous launch events in Dallas, Austin and Houston have connected more than 650 entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders. The virtual symposium will feature a panel discussion with leading investors from each state. Women entrepreneurs participating in the event will have the opportunity to ask investors questions and gain new insights. "Our goal for this symposium is to not only bridge the geographic boundaries, which separate the investors and entrepreneurs, but also to bridge or connect their diverse networks," said Jamie Wyrick, president of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs - Texas and co-producer of the Springboard: Southwest 2002 Venture Capital Forum. Springboard: Southwest 2002 is the eighth Forum to be held under the Springboard banner. The Forums have attracted more than 2,000 applicants and featured 176 women entrepreneurs presenting their companies to investors. Springboard presenters have raised nearly $600 million in equity capital and 80 percent of the presenters continue to grow their businesses despite the recent economic slow-down. Companies selected to present at Springboard: Southwest 2002 will represent emerging technology companies and traditional companies, which leverage technology to enhance their product or service. Presenters must be women with a significant equity position and a key management role (CEO, President, Founder or Co-Founder, CFO, COO, CIO or CTO). Companies headquartered in the southwest regional states are given priority consideration, but the application process is open to entrepreneurs across the country.
