SSOE and Goodyear Sponsor Safety Award in Puladian, China Acknowledges One Million Hours Worked With No Recordable Accidents
SHANGHAI, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and SSOE Group acknowledged the safety record at Goodyear's newest tire plant, now under construction, with an achievement award in recognition of more than one million hours worked without a recordable accident. The award was accepted by BVEC Piling Contractors on behalf of all those working on the job.
The almost $500 million facility located in Puladian, China will consist of multiple buildings situated on a 195 acre site. SSOE is providing full engineering, procurement, construction management (EPCM) services for the project.
Andrew Kwok, General Manager of SSOE's China operations, said the safety award was a noteworthy accomplishment. "Safety is an integral part of the mindset at Goodyear and SSOE," Kwok said. "This award is an indication of our commitment to work hard to protect the well-being of each person working on the site."
Director of Global Capital Projects for Goodyear, Steve Portalupi, supported Kwok's sentiments when he noted the importance of hitting the one million hour safety mark. "This one million hour safety milestone is a tremendous achievement. And it's one that doesn't just happen. It is the result of a dedicated effort by everyone on the job site to work safely every minute of every day. Goodyear appreciates the commitment of SSOE and our construction contractors to embrace our safety initiative that "No One Gets Hurt". In doing so we help ensure that everyone returns home without an injury."
Just recently, the plant reached two million hours worked with no recordable incidents. "This new record attests to Goodyear's and SSOE's ongoing efforts to create a safe workplace," Kwok said. "It sends a message to our industry that we are serious when it comes to safety."
