Standard & Poor's Announces Change to U.S. Index

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silgan Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: SLGN) will replace Marvel Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: MVL) in the S&P MidCap 400 after the close of trading on Thursday, December 31. Marvel is being acquired by S&P 100 & 500 constituent The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date.

Silgan is a manufacturer of metal and plastic consumer goods packaging products. Headquartered in Stamford, CT, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Metal & Glass Containers Sub-Industry index.
