Starbucks Coffee's 'Siren' Makes Broadway Debut with Opening of Times Square Flagship Store
Tony Award Winner Chita Rivera to make ceremonious "First Pour" to launch

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Great White Way gets a new addition to its line-up today with the official opening of a flagship Starbucks Coffee store on 42nd Street. In a premiere that befits Broadway, Starbucks will celebrate its new store with a "first pour" by Chita Rivera today at 11 a.m. Ms. Rivera -- star of the Tony-Award-winning "Nine the Musical" -- along with representatives from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will be present to receive a $5,000 contribution from Starbucks. The store, located at 251 W 42nd Street (at the corner of 8th Avenue), is a part of Tishman Realty's E Walk entertainment/retail/restaurant complex on 42nd Street. "Theatre lovers and arts supporters from all over the world are sure to walk through the doors of this new Starbucks," said Ms. Rivera. "On behalf of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, I'm pleased to serve the first of what's sure to be countless cups of coffee to mark a meaningful partnership between two Broadway heavyweights." In keeping with the glamour and glitz of Times Square, the 1,750-square-foot store is decked out with unique design elements that spotlight the Starbucks Siren (the center of the Starbucks logo), including special signage and artwork, door pulls and exterior finishes. Of particular significance is the seven-foot custom made Siren directly outside the store, situated to "greet" customers and passersby on 42nd Street.
