State of the Art Technology will Protect Southern Oregon Schools Jackson County, Oregon School District #9 is first in the nation to implement NEXARsos technology, which helps keep students safe during threats or emergencies on school grounds

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore., June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Keeping kids safe is one of the top priorities for the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Mike Winters.  In May 2013, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office used drug seizure money to pay for brand new state of the art technology to be installed in one of the schools located in Jackson County.  Shady Cove Middle School, in Jackson County School District #9, is the first school in the nation to have technology this advanced inside its classrooms.

Southern Oregon businesses, Precision Electric and Adroit Construction donated staff and man-hours to install the NEXARsos system, developed by Future Concepts, a California corporation, over the Memorial Day weekend inside Shady Cove Middle School.  The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon both have command centers located inside each of its buildings.

NEXARsos provides a direct link between law enforcement, first responders, and the school in the event of threat or emergency on school grounds, and the ability to intervene and control the scene.  The system is activated once a teacher presses a panic button from inside their classroom.  When the system is activated, command centers located in the school's main office and within law enforcement agencies begin showing real time video from inside the classroom and various areas at the school, as well as activating control measures such as door locks and status indicators . This information is critical when responding to any type of incident, providing law enforcement situational awareness the moment the situation begins; giving law enforcement the chance to respond with information agencies haven't had access to this quickly ever before.
