North Redlands Supermarket opened in 1956 on the site of the former Hotel Casa Loma, a luxury hotel and tourist attraction from 1895 to 1939. The current North Redlands Stater Bros. Supermarket was rebuilt on the same site in 1966 and remodeled in 1999. Stater Bros. has deep roots in the City of Redlands. The Stater brothers, including Stater Bros.' founders Cleo, Leo and Lavoy Stater, attended Redlands Schools. One of the very first Stater Bros. Markets opened on Olive Avenue in Redlands in 1937, and another Stater Bros. Market opened in 1951 on West Redlands Boulevard. Both of these locations were eventually closed to make room for newer and more modern Stater Bros. locations. In addition to the North Redlands Supermarket, Stater Bros. operates two additional Full Service Supermarkets in Redlands: at the corner of Lugonia and Wabash Avenues (open since 1980) and at the corner of Alabama Street and Barton Road (open since 1988).
