Steelbox Helps Future-proof VMS Investments with Flexible Licensing for IP Media Appliances
New pricing model and bandwidth throttling mechanism give customers sound initial investment that becomes more cost-effective as network grows
ATLANTA, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Steelbox, a division of Adtech Global Solutions (AGS), announced today a new licensing model for its IP media appliances to give customers greater flexibility for managing growth in IT and video management infrastructure. The company's Steelbox appliances deliver comprehensive switching, distribution and recording of video and audio over an IP network, providing unprecedented capacity and flexibility for growth.

Using a bandwidth throttling mechanism, Steelbox can deliver increased bandwidth in increments of 150Mbs/50 streams via license key upgrades that can be enabled in seconds to unleash each appliance's massive performance capabilities. Customers can purchase Steelbox appliances starting at 300Mbps/100 streams -- the equivalent of 100 MPEG4 video streams from IP encoders, cameras or other digital sources utilizing a bandwidth of up to 3Mbps per stream (at 30fps x 4CIF image quality). With the new licensing model, the Steelbox 1250 can be expanded up to 750Mbs/250 streams and the Steelbox 2500 will scale from a starting point of 750Mbs/250, to an unparalleled 1.5Gbs/512 streams.
Customers can implement a Steelbox solution at a lower cost entry point suitable to their current needs and grow without needing to invest further in additional recording or media switching hardware. By comparison most alternative solutions would require not only multiple servers just to match the Steelbox performance entry point, but add anywhere from one to four servers just to match each 150Mbs/50 stream stepping.
"Organizations have become especially CAPEX and cash flow conscious, but their network media management needs continue to grow at a rapid pace, especially with the use of megapixel, bandwidth-intensive cameras or overall high-count camera deployments," said Nik Moissiadis, Managing Director of Steelbox. "Organizations needing the scalability and flexibility of our solution can now cost-effectively expand their video networks quicker and easier as their network growth demands more capacity."
