Story To College CEO and Write Out Loud author Carol Barash to Host Free Webinar Series
Essay essentials make advanced college essay method affordable for students from all backgrounds
NEW YORK, Sept. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- To celebrate the publication of her new book Write Out Loud by McGraw-Hill, Story To College CEO Carol Barash is hosting a free webinar series from Sept. 10-Sept. 24. In the Write Out Loud Webinar Series, Barash will discuss the college admission strategies that she writes about in her book.
"My goal is to teach every student specific tools they can use to tell stories that reveal their unique character and sense of purpose in college admission and scholarship essays," Barash said.
The webinars, which come at the start of the 2013-2014 school year, are designed to help seniors take charge of their college application process.
"Many students are anxious about the admission process--and they are especially nervous about their essays," Barash said. "'What should I write about?' 'What are they looking for?' and 'Is what I've done enough?' are questions I hear all the time. These webinars teach you how to put your worries to the side and learn specific tools and strategies to write essays that connect powerfully with admissions officers."
The webinar series is also designed to provide guidance counselors with strategies that they can use to support students on their college admission essays.
"Guidance counselors will learn how to use the Moments Method(TM) to empower their students to reveal their character," Barash said. "They will learn what questions to ask to provide support while making sure the student's unique voice and vision are at the center of their essays."
The Write Out Loud Webinar Series is divided into three parts - "Find," "Shape," and "Perform."
The first webinar - "Find" - takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013.
"The first webinar focuses on the No. 1 thing students worry about in their essays: how to find great topics!" Barash said. "You will learn four specific tools to build an arsenal of stories that reflect your character and sense of purpose: Refresh, Build a Bridge, Transform Scripts to Stories, and Choose a Moment."
The second webinar - "Shape" - takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
"The second webinar teaches you four strategies to take one story from your past and use it to answer one of the new Common Application essay questions," Barash said. "I call these strategies: Tell it Out Loud, Write it Out, Focus Out, and Map it."
The third webinar - "Perform" - takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.
"The third webinar will give you four tools to keep the power of your spoken voice in your completed essays to connect with admissions readers," Barash said. "These strategies are: Magnet + Glow, Explore Perspectives, Raise the Stakes, and Write Out Loud."
Barash explained that the goal of Write Out Loud and her webinar series is to provide students with a holistic set of solutions to the college admission process.
"These webinars are structured to give students and counselors specific tools and strategies to write successful essays from beginning to end," Barash said. "Our goal is to empower students to express their character and personality in their essays. Each webinar includes time for questions from the audience at the end."
