BETHESDA, MD, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ - Stratos Global Corporation, the leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, today announced it has been ranked by the World Teleport Association (WTA) as the world's largest independent teleport operator for 2009. This is the third consecutive year that Stratos has achieved the top honor.

Stratos was ranked first on WTA's 2009 Independent Top Twenty list, which groups companies based on revenue from all sources, but excludes companies whose core business is ownership and operation of a satellite fleet or terrestrial network.

Stratos also was ranked fifth on WTA's 2009 Global Top Twenty list, which groups companies based on revenues from all customized communications sources and includes operators of teleports, satellite fleets and fiber networks.

Both lists were announced by WTA on Nov. 9. The WTA compiles its rankings by surveying teleport operators around the world on their facilities, services and business results.
