StreamVenue Healthcare Pacing Future of Endoscopy Technology
Solution package extends uses of minimally invasive surgery
DALLAS, April 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- StreamVenue Healthcare has partnered its "plug and play" products and services with Texas Institute for Surgery At Presbyterian Hospital Dallas to foster innovation in endoscopy technology.
StreamVenue Healthcare rolled out this year its Solution Package offering as an innovative step in endoscopy technology. The package includes EndoCom hardware; StreamingOR, live streaming of minimally invasive surgical cases; and Endo-Cloud, an archiving system which ultimately attaches surgical cases to Electronic Medical Records.
The system was made to work via a secure internet link with 90% of the existing equipment in an operating room," according to Clayton Redmon, co-founder and CEO of StreamVenue Healthcare. "Nothing beats teaching from the surgeon's viewpoint. This sets the stage for reshaping the way the healthcare industry delivers live video to medical conferences and symposia globally."
Surgeons who perform minimally invasive cases have the capability to teach with nothing in their way, Redmon says. Traditional technology required satellites, trucks, plus camera and production crews, he adds.
Orthopedic surgeon Robert Scheinberg, M.D. says, "Without anyone traveling from Florida or California, they can be in the operating room with me without being in the OR."
StreamVenue Healthcare was founded in 2009 and is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Silicon Prairie. The privately held company adapted its own high-definition technology concepts originally created for the music industry. Redmond says he recognized broad applications in the healthcare industry, specifically operating rooms of hospitals.
Texas Institute for Surgery will utilize the Solution Package across a number of surgical specialties, according to Bryan Nations, StreamVenue's Chief Information Officer. The agreement with Texas Institute for Surgery is non-exclusive, meaning other hospitals could ink partnerships with StreamVenue if they so desire, he adds.
For vendors of medical devices and technologies, StreamingOR offers the opportunity to provide live events of a company's product in use. Potential clients can watch use of new products in the hands of a physician, explains Nations. "There are opportunities for collaboration with hospitals, surgeons and medical device companies."
StreamVenue's technology will impact surgical specialties with minimally invasive procedures. The benefits of minimally invasive surgery depend on the procedure. Generally those benefits include less pain, less scarring and shorter recovery times.
General Surgery, Gynecological procedures, Neuro/Spine procedures, Ear, Nose & Throat procedures and Orthopedic procedures, make an ideal fit for use of StreamVenue's endoscopic technology, Nations says.
