Studio Savvy Salon to Sponsor Opening Day Hat Contest at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

DEL MAR, Calif., July 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Hat Contest, now in its 18th year, will have five categories this year; Most Glamorous; Best Racing Theme; Funniest/Most Outrageous; Best Flowers/All Others, and  new to the contest this year, Best Fascinator which is an elaborate headpiece or large hair adornment on a small base, headband or clip. There is a $300 first prize in each category, $200 for second and $100 for third and Best Fascinator. The Grand Prize is two American Airline vouchers, good for air travel to any American Airlines destination in contiguous United States.

Anyone wishing to enter the One and Only Truly Fabulous Hat Contest may go to the Hat Contest area in the Stretch Run Plaza de Mexico around the fountain.  Entries will be taken between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p. m. The Hat Parade begins at 3:00 p.m.; winners will be announced at 4:00 p.m. after the 5th race and prizes will be awarded by Deena Von Yokes after the 7th race, scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Deena, at a loss for fashionable readymade hats or design pieces to adorn her models' hair, put her creative talents to work and handcrafted her own. Her designs gained immediate attention from press and media and a tremendous demand from clients, earning her the privilege of sponsoring, judging and presenting at this year's Del Mar Hat Contest.
