MILFORD, Conn., May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The SUBWAY® restaurant chain and Young & Successful Media, owners of the YSN network, have announced the winners of the second SUBWAY Global Challenge, a business simulation game that enabled players to build, train, operate and promote their own virtual SUBWAY® restaurants as a way to learn business development and entrepreneurial start-up skills.
"The Global Challenge is the most widely distributed global online competition and allows aspiring entrepreneurs to compete against their peers in over 100 countries," said Don Fertman, Chief Development Officer for the SUBWAY® chain. "We are always looking to improve what we do on all levels and by working with Young & Successful Media on the Global Challenge, we have been able to open our business network to these promising young entrepreneurs. By watching how creatively the participants tackled the challenge, we have been able to see our business from a whole new perspective."
The three top winners of the Global Challenge will visit SUBWAY® headquarters on Monday, May, 5, 2014, for a VIP tour and to meet with various departments, from store design to global marketing, to present their winning ideas. The three winners are: Vidhi Vankani, of Pashim Mednipur, West Bengal; Nithyanandam Yuvaraj Dinesh Babu originally from New Delhi but now lives in Singapore; and Damar Dhaval Naresh from Vadodara, Gujarat.
"I like challenges, and the Subway Global Challenge is the biggest challenge I have ever participated in," said Damar Dhaval Naresh, 21, who eats at Subway once a week and loves the Veggie Delite sub. "When I first learned that I was one of the winners I got very excited. It was like my dream came true!"
The winners will also tour New York City to see the sites and view restaurant operations before heading to Washington, DC, where they will meet with government officials as well as business and industry leaders on global business and franchising topics.
