(NYSE: ABS) announced today that Sue Klug has been named senior vice
president, sales and merchandising for its California food division, effective
Klug, who most recently served as chief development officer for Catalina
Marketing Corporation based in St. Petersburg, Florida, joins Albertsons with
more than twenty-five years of merchandising and marketing experience
including expertise in the areas of information technology, inventory
management, strategic planning, consumer research, advertising, public
relations and loyalty marketing for the supermarket industry.

Klug's previous positions at Catalina included responsibility for the
international, direct mail, research, internet and US Retail business units.
She also previously served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for
Lucky stores and Vons in California. Klug holds a bachelor's degree in Food
Industry Management and a master's in business administration, both from the
University of Southern California. She resides with her family in Anaheim

In Klug's new role, she will report directly to Van Helden. Albertsons
California food division consists of more than 500 stores in California and
Nevada employing more than 41,000 associates.
