MILL VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recent survey
conducted by Zoomerang, the leader in online survey software, the Democrats
are the most technically-savvy political party, leading the Republicans and
trouncing the Green Party and Independents. But, in a nod to the close and
divisive presidential election campaign, the Democrats scored only slightly
above the Republicans. Of the 260 respondents who participated in Zoomerang's
online survey, when asked "Which political party do you feel is the most
technically savvy?" 41% voted for Democrats, 36% for Republicans, 11% for
Independents, 3% for the Green Party and 10% were undecided.
The majority of respondents who voted for the Democrats believe the party
excels most in the area of e-advocacy, or soliciting grassroots action.
According to one survey-taker, "Dr. Howard Dean led the way." Most of those
who chose the Republicans believe the party's key strength lies in the design,
content or messaging of its Web sites. The majority of Green Party voters
believe the party excels most at blogging and e-advocacy.
When asked for the most compelling reason why their selected party
possessed more technical knowledge, the respondents who chose Democrats said
that they are "the most tuned-in to their constituents." Those who chose the
 Republicans believe that as well.
Remarked Dana Meade, Vice President and General Manager of Zoomerang,
"Since the Dean campaign and moveon.org were instrumental in re-defining
online politics, it is not surprising that Democrats had such a strong showing
in this survey. Republicans, however, have also made a strong impact with
technology and it is interesting that their tight race with Democrats in this
survey closely mirrors the voting dynamic going into the presidential
 election."
As the world's leading online survey software, Zoomerang
(www.zoomerang.com) has been adopted by users in over 200 countries. Over
950,000 surveys have been deployed since its launch and over 26.5 million
 responses have been recorded.
Zoomerang is owned by MarketTools, Inc., a privately held company
headquartered in Mill Valley, California. This survey and subsequent analysis
is a non-partisan endeavor and does not reflect the political views of
 Zoomerang or MarketTools.
