Swimwear Trends For This Summer
MIAMI, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Breaking away from the recent obsession with minimalist and monochromatic textiles, designer swimwear is available in an arresting collection of in-your-face prints, colors, embellishments and silhouettes for the summer season.
Prints
The most notable trend this year is the use of graphic prints. Most designers, including the Agua Bendita and Maaji swimwear lines, have created suits using striking patterns, from Victorian flowers, sophisticated paisleys and playful polka dots to pretty plaids, gorgeous ginghams and geometric shapes.
Animal-inspired patterns are also available, including leopard, zebra, crocodile and peacock. Swimwear has taken on a definite ethnic feel, too. From Moroccan and Aboriginal Australian to African, Americana and Native American, these suits are full of fun and cultural pride.
Colors
Rich, vivid color palettes, from mulberry, jade and tangerine to aquamarine, lemon and raspberry, have been utilized by notable lines like OndadeMar swimwear. The jewel-tone colors can be blended with multi-hued graphic prints or paired with solid, dark-colored bottoms. Monochrome color blocking and dazzling metallic fabrics are two trends expected to carry over to next summer.
Embellishments
Sparkly embellishments, such as rhinestones, sequins and beads, are being used to accent all styles and colors of swimsuits. Designers are also experimenting with metal accents, including buttons, buckles, rings and jewelry, as well as dangling tassels, ribbons and fringe. Ruffles and ruching are appearing on the bust, the behind and the waistline, while lacy, lingerie-inspired swimwear is made its debut this season.
Silhouettes
Retro pin-up girl silhouettes, such as high-waist two-piece suits, are being revived from the 1950s and '60s. The elegant, curve-hugging profile was originally made popular by Hollywood starlets Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. Plunging v-neck swimsuits are also hot right now, as are peekaboo keyholes and one-shoulder necklines. Daring customers craving a sultry suit will want to check out the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada swimwear collection.
Fabrics
Crocheted suits and open-weave pieces are making a big splash this season. The 1970s-inspired swimwear is not only eye-catching, but figure-flattering. It can also easily transition into daywear with a flowing skirt and lace up sandals.
The trendiest designer swimwear, produced by some of the industry's most coveted brands, including Maaji, Agua Bendita, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and OndadeMar, is available at Swimwear360.com.
