Taste of Home's Third Annual Cooking Expo Has Plenty of Fun on the Menu

Friday October 22 named 'Taste of Home Cooking Expo Day' in Milwaukee

GREENDALE, Wisc., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether you consider yourself an
aspiring chef, an enthusiastic cook, or you just like to eat, the third annual
Taste of Home's Cooking Expo co-sponsored by Sears Kenmore is the place to
visit on Friday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, October 23
between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A testament to the popularity of the event,
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has named Friday, October 22 "Taste of Home's
 Cooking Expo Day" in Milwaukee.
Thousands of people will gather at the Midwest Airlines Center in downtown
Milwaukee to participate in cooking demonstrations, visit food-related exhibit
booths, test the latest home-cooking products and participate in a lively
recipe swap. In addition to dozens of exhibitors providing samples, valuable
coupons and products for sale, the Cooking Expo features several special
attractions, including celebrity guests and educational presentations.
This year, nationally-known "hintologist" Heloise will present "In the
Kitchen with Heloise: Help, Hints, & Humor" on Friday and broadcast her radio
show live nationwide on Saturday. Well-known horticulturalist, radio and
television personality Melinda Myers, "The Plant Doctor," will talk about
vegetable and herb gardening on Friday and Saturday. Both Heloise and Melinda
will be available for autographs during the show.
Third-year Cooking Expo participant Sears Kenmore is co-sponsor of the
event, as well as the official appliance supplier. This year, they have
provided two dozen appliances for the Expo stages and will have the stainless
Kenmore Elite line plus many black and white appliances on display for
attendees. Retailer Kitchen Collection supplies all stage cookware and
utensils, and will exhibit at the Expo as well.
World Wide Country Tours, exclusive tour operator for Reiman Publications,
will provide one lucky person with a week-long summertime trip for two along
the scenic Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers on the floating hotel barge River
Explorer. No purchase or registration necessary to enter. For more
information and complete rules, log onto
 http://www.tasteofhomecookingexpo.com.
With more than 4 million subscribers to Taste of Home alone, Greendale,
Wisconsin-based Reiman Publications began the Cooking Expo in 2002 as a way
for the publisher to get to know more of its readers face to face. Besides
the returning Taste of Home Marketplace, the Cooking Expo will host a Reiman
Warehouse Sale and Reiman editors will fill the stage with a behind-the-scenes
look at America's number one-selling cooking magazine. Reiman Stage
participants, including company founder Roy Reiman, will visit the Reiman
Booth after their presentations to meet and greet attendees and autograph
program directories, napkins or other items of the attendee's choice. Taste
of Home Cooking School home economists will also present their popular
Favorite Recipe Sessions for the third year in a row. These sessions were so
popular this year they sold out in the first few weeks of Cooking Expo
 attendee registration.
Food-related companies with local, regional and national distribution make
up the Cooking Expo roster. Co- sponsor Sears Kenmore Appliances heads the
list along with featured presenter McCormick Spices & Extracts and Nestle with
their very own Exhibit Hall stage. Also scheduled to participate are other
well-known national companies such as Rhodes Bake-N-Serv, J. M. Smucker
Specialty Foods, Eagle Brands, Hodgson Mill, Johnsonville Sausage, Lesaffre
Yeast, and Sara Lee. Exhibitor Red Gold will showcase its limited edition,
slingshot yellow Chevrolet Super Sport Roadster on the Exhibit Hall floor.
Cooking Expo favorite McCormick Spices & Extracts will be on hand to present a
very special holiday-themed presentation at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Though the session is free, early bird seating beginning at 8:30 a.m. is
 limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Local and regional exhibitors cover a wide array of products and services
involving food -- Almond Hut, BelGioioso Cheese, Berres Brothers Coffee, The
Cooking Store, The Elegant Farmer, Flutterbye Canning, Golden Guernsey Dairy,
Saz's BBQ Products, Tastefully Simple, That's My Pan!, Wisconsin and Illinois
Pork Producers, and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, to name a few.
     For a $10 general admission fee, $8 for seniors 60+, $6 for children 5-12
and free for children under 5, attendees can eat their way through the show
while learning new cooking techniques and collecting recipes. Group rates are
also available and a $1-off coupon is available on the Expo website, as well
