OAK BROOK, Ill., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonald's and its panel of basketball experts unveiled today the 24 members of the 30th annual Boys Game and 24 members of the sixth annual Girls Game to be played March 28, 2007 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. More than $5 million has been raised since the first Game was played in 1978. "Being selected for the McDonald's All American Games is one of the greatest accomplishments in a basketball player's career," said legendary coach John Wooden, chairman of the Games and 10-time NCAA Champion at UCLA (1948-1975). "Not only will these youth contribute to the list of the best basketball players of all-time, but they will aid in raising money for this very important cause." The 2007 McDonald's All American Boys Team features a wide-spread talent pool featuring: O.J. Mayo (Huntington High School - Huntington, W.Va.) and his teammate Patrick Patterson, Eric Gordon (North Central High School - Indianapolis, Ind.), Kevin Love (Lake Oswego High School - Lake Oswego, Ore.), Derrick Rose (Simeon Career Academy High School - Chicago, Ill.), Kyle Singler (South Medford High School - Medford, Ore.), Michael Beasley (Notre Dame Preparatory School - Fitchburg, Md.), Corey Stokes (St. Benedict's Prep - Newark, N.J.) and Nolan Smith (Oak Hill Academy High School - Mouth of Wilson, W.Va.). Coach Morgan Wootten, who had more than 1,200 wins as head basketball coach at DeMatha High, is chairman of the selection committee. Legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, who has been involved in the McDonald's All American Games since its inception, serves as chairman of the Games and as an advisor to the selection committee. Since 1977, more than 800 players have competed in the McDonald's All American Games, forming an elite list that reads like a "Who's Who" in basketball history. McDonald's All American(R) athletes include NBA greats Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony; along with current college stand-outs such as Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. Former female All Americans include WNBA MVP candidate Seimone Augustus and NCAA stars Ivory Latta, Tina Charles and Candace Parker who made history at the 2004 McDonald's All American Games when she became the first woman to win the slam dunk contest at the POWERade(R) Jam Fest.
