Startup Weekend Beijing, taking place October 21-23, challenges software and web developers, user experience professionals and product managers to team up and turn bright ideas into great products in the space of a weekend. At the end of the 54-hr tech blitz, a panel of all-star VC judges will vote on the team that will win the Exhibitor's Package to TechCrunch Disrupt Beijing, which is taking place from October 31-November 1. Past judges at Startup Weekend Beijing have included Xiaojun Li, partner at Accel-IDG, which recently raised $1.3 billion for investments in China; and Robin Chan, angel investor in Twitter and FourSquare.
The TechCrunch Disrupt Beijing Exhibitor's Package, worth $15,000, includes four all-inclusive conference passes to the hotly-anticipated TechCrunch Disrupt Beijing, as well as an exhibit stall for both days of the conference. The winning team will get to mingle with the superstars of tech at the conference, including Lee Kai Fu (Innovation Works), Pony Ma (Tencent) and Niklas Zennstrom (Skype), and also receive invitations to a private reception at TechCrunch Disrupt Beijing with leading angel investors and VCs. This gives the winning team unparalleled exposure to a global audience of investors and technology leaders.
"The selection of Beijing as the site for TechCrunch's first ever international Disrupt conference shows that Beijing indeed is becoming as important in the tech world as Silicon Valley and New York City," says Andy Mok, Managing Director at Red Pagoda Resources. The upcoming Startup Weekend, organized by Red Pagoda Resources, will be the third of its kind in Beijing. "Teams may also win at least US$25k of seed financing at the end of the Weekend from China Startup Republic/Innovation Camp, a newly launched investment fund targeting seed stage investments in China," Andy adds.
If one weekend of coding isn't enough for some, 20 lucky Startup Weekend applicants will also receive complimentary passes to TechCrunch's Beijing Hackathon, an event for developers to show off their programming skills, which takes place on the following weekend (October 29-30).
Applications to attend Startup Weekend Beijing can be made through the Startup Weekend sign-up form.
