Telarix Powers 200 Million Call Detail Records in 12 Hours for Embratel

iXTools Outperforms Competition by 25 Percent;

Offers Scalability to Accommodate Market Segment Demands

Jan 21, 2004, 00:00 ET from Telarix, Inc.

VIENNA, Va., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Telarix, Inc., formerly known as
Emerging Technologies Group, today announced that the company's iXTools
Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) software has enabled Embratel,
Brazil's leading telecommunications carrier, to process 200 million call
detail records (CDRs) in 12 hours. Running on an Intel(R) Pentium III(TM)
processor-based platform, the Embratel metrics mark a 25 percent advantage
over iXTools' competitors. The Telarix solution was deployed on a platform of
12 Intel Pentium III processor-based servers and included the application
programming interfaces (APIs) necessary to ensure data integrity by creating
an environment where data entered once was available to multiple systems
operating on different platforms. Telarix significantly exceeded Embratel's
requirement that the system process 100 million CDRs in 12 hours, which was
validated jointly with Intel during a two-week stress test of the system.
"For the last 6 years, Telarix has developed superior tools that maximize
carrier profitability by leveraging operational intelligence on interconnect
transactions to enable real-time business decisions," said Hormoz Hekmat,
executive vice president at Telarix. "These performance figures illustrate
the high quality of our solutions and further validate our end-to-end approach
 to IBO."
Global telecommunications carriers create billions of operational
transactions (business events and service records) every day. Whether it's
wireline or wireless, in-country or across the world, telecommunications
carriers are, in effect, huge transaction companies that must sort through
every call record, termination charge, tariff change, and switch record in
order to smoothly and efficiently interconnect the world's communications.
Failure to quickly and correctly process, analyze, and respond to ever
changing rates, routes, and regional requirements can very often be the key
difference between profitability and loss for a carrier.
"Telecommunications carriers are in a fast-paced industry with a dynamic
regulatory environment, as well as an expanding array of new services."" said
Taufik Ma, general manager, Enterprise Platform and Services Division at
Intel. "The scalability of Intel Architecture carrier-grade and enterprise
server platforms enables Telarix to cost-effectively meet the rapidly growing
billing needs of carriers like Embratel."
Telarix's flagship product, iXTools, is a suite of software modules that
gather interconnect business events and service transactions, which include
call detail records, rate offers, quality and capacity information. This data
is enhanced and stored, and made available to business users through a
universal web interface. iXTools has been deployed by many major carriers
worldwide such as Global Crossing, T-Systems, Embratel, and Primus.
