CHENGDU, China, Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- 2013 PATA Travel Mart, the most influential travel trade fair of the Asian-Pacific region (hereinafter referred to as PTM) was held in Chengdu during September 15-17. The first time it was held in a city in western China, PTM attracted more than 100 exhibitors from 60 countries, including internationally well known travel wholesalers, chain hotel operators, representatives of scenic spots and other industry representatives. International exhibitors accounted for 75%. There were 473 buyers from 373 travel organizations, 31 tourists' destinations of 563 exhibitors from 246 institutions. 44% of sellers and over 25% of buyers attended the event for the first time. Meanwhile, 80 international media from the 12 tourist source countries were present. The exhibition area was nearly 8,000 sq.m., the largest ever, so was the number of participating countries and regions. PTM being held in Chengdu reflects the positive attitude of PATA toward the future of China's tourism industry but is also high praise for the internationalization of Chengdu's exhibition and travel industry.
