The PhD Project Reports: Number of Minority Faculty at Top 20 Colleges and Universities Is Growing

    MONTVALE, N.J., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The PhD Project, a multi-million
dollar corporate and academic-led effort to increase minority representation
among business professors, reports that the number of minority b-school
faculty at the top 20 colleges and universities is growing steadily due in
large part to the success of The PhD Project. However, of the estimated 26,000
business school faculty in the U.S., there continues to be significant
underrepresentation of African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native
 Americans.
Since The PhD Project was founded in 1994, the number of minority
professors at U.S. business schools has more than doubled, from 294 to 746.
Further, 417 minorities are currently enrolled in doctoral programs, and will
take a place at the front of the classroom in the next five years.
Below is a table indicating the number of full time, doctorally qualified
minority b-school faculty and minority doctoral students at each of the
schools ranked top 20 in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report.
