TILLAMOOK, Ore., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- It's time to start those
graters! Tillamook Cheese today announced the acceptance of recipe
submissions for the 2007 Tillamook Macaroni and Cheese Recipe Contest
(http://www.tillamookcontest.com). The contest returns this year, giving
amateur food lovers a chance to win $5,000 in a national recipe contest
dedicated to an all-time favorite comfort food.
     Regional cook-offs will take place in six locations: Portland, Oregon;
Seattle, Washington; Denver, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; San Antonio,
Texas; and San Francisco, California. Three finalists in each regional
cook-off will be chosen based on unique use of ingredients, taste and
overall creativity. At each cook-off, finalists will prepare their macaroni
and cheese recipes from scratch and local celebrity judges and culinary
experts will judge the three dishes to declare a regional winner. The
regional winner will receive $1,000 in cash, 25 lbs. of Tillamook(R)
 cheese, and various other prizes.
Most importantly, regional winners will earn the right to compete in
the grand finale cook-off in Portland, Oregon against other finalists, for
the title of "the Big Cheese", $5,000 in cash and endless bragging rights.
The two runners up will each win 15 lbs. of Tillamook cheese and other
 prizes.
Kathy Holstad, marketing director for Tillamook Cheese, said she is
looking forward to the cook-offs again this year. "In previous years, we
have tasted some very unique recipes that changed the traditional view of
macaroni and cheese to a more gourmet dish," she said. "We are very excited
for recipe submissions this year and expect an even greater participation,
as well as a few surprises, at this year's cook-offs."
