The University of North Carolina General Administration Signs Systemwide Agreement with SciQuest

Agreement will Enable North Carolina's Public Universities to Attain Significant Savings and Efficiencies through Eprocurement

CARY, N.C., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- SciQuest, Inc., the global leader empowering enterprises to realize the potential of strategic procurement, today announced that the University of North Carolina (UNC) General Administration has signed a systemwide agreement for the company's eprocurement and supplier enablement solutions. This systemwide Master Agreement enables UNC General Administration to license and implement SciQuest's solutions and also extends that ability to all 16 of North Carolina's public university campuses.

"From Day One of my tenure, we've been working on multiple fronts to operate our entire University more efficiently and effectively," stated Erskine Bowles, president of The University of North Carolina. "SciQuest has a proven track record of enabling cost savings and increasing efficiencies. I believe this agreement will allow us to realize true cost savings through aggregated systemwide spending. Transforming procurement from a processing function into a savings enabler is an opportunity that we can't afford to miss."

In its November 2006 report, the President's Advisory Committee on Efficiency and Effectiveness (PACE) recommended a system-level eprocurement initiative as one of the University's greatest opportunities for potential cost savings. In its search for a procurement solution to fulfill these recommendations, UNC sought a system that provides strategic spend management software and services including eprocurement, supplier enablement, and spend analysis reporting at both the campus level and the system level. UNC concluded that SciQuest met all of these requirements.

"As a North Carolina business, we understand the need for cost savings in this state," said Stephen Wiehe, president and CEO of SciQuest. "The University of North Carolina should be applauded for aggressively working to ensure that every dollar spent in support of our universities is utilized for maximum impact. East Carolina University has been a SciQuest customer since 2005, and we welcome the opportunity to work with the entire UNC system. Our work with universities across the U.S. has shown that procurement automation has the power to bring significant savings to the bottom line."
