TI Continues to Build Momentum with BrilliantColor(TM) Technology

Volume shipments of BrilliantColor and technology demonstration of

DynamicBlack(TM) advancements allow for dramatic picture enhancement

Jun 07, 2006, 01:00 ET from Texas Instruments DLP Products

ORLANDO, Fla., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:
TXN) today at InfoComm announced that shipments of its BrilliantColor
technology for front projection products have exceeded 100,000 units.
BrilliantColor technology, introduced last year at InfoComm, enables a
greater than 50% brightness increase in mid tone images, common in video
and natural scenes resulting in highly saturated images.
This year, six customers will be showcasing WXGA, XGA and 720p
projectors featuring this new technology delivering vibrant colors and 1000
to 5000 lumens of brightness to meet the needs of the business, education
and consumer market segments. In addition to highlighting BrilliantColor,
TI will showcase its leadership in native and dynamic contrast ratio with
the demonstration of DynamicBlack for front projection products.
DynamicBlack technology allows customers to achieve a 3 to 4 times increase
in contrast ratio over native contrast ratio. For example, 3000:1 native
contrast ratio products could achieve contrast ratios up to 12000:1,
creating a new benchmark for image quality.
"Each year we strive to offer our customers more options to
differentiate their products," said Lars Yoder, Business Manager, TI DLP(R)
Front Projection Products. BrilliantColor offers great color advances and
it also gives customers more flexibility and more color choices. We believe
customer innovation with DynamicBlack will provide a similar opportunity to
 differentiate with contrast ratio."
Several DLP customers will be showing production products using
BrilliantColor technology at InfoComm including BenQ, Dell, Mitsubishi,
 Optoma, Panasonic and Sharp.
