LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The holiday season is in full swing at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. From brand new festive decorations and holiday displays to exciting new events and services for shoppers, the recently renovated mall is prepared for the thousands of shoppers anticipated to come through the front doors in the weeks leading up to the New Year.
At the heart of the mall's new holiday programming is the debut of a hybrid ice skating rink immediately adjacent to the enhanced dining court. For the first time ever, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is bringing 1000 square feet of synthetic ice to Center Court. To help celebrate the new holiday addition to the mall, recording artist Willow Smith will host a "Fireball" skating party on the evening of Monday, December 12th, from 5pm to 8pm. In anticipation of the event, local radio station KJLH will give away 100 event tickets on air with 20 grand prize tickets for a chance to meet with Willow.
The rink will be open to the public from December 12 through the end of the year from 12pm to 8pm daily, except for Christmas Day. Skaters can purchase 30 minutes of time on the ice and skate rentals for $5.00.
The Primestor Development team, which manages the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, has also rolled out never-seen-before holiday decor throughout the mall, including a massive Christmas tree on the recently opened second floor bridge to Macy's, evergreen garlands, new lighting displays and a Winter Wonderland in Sears Court, where Santa is available for photos and gift requests until Christmas Eve.
Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza has partnered with the Aids Health Foundation this year on a new pop-up store for the holiday season. Called Wrap it Up, the new store will offer free gift wrapping for all mall customers until Christmas. The Foundation hired ten local teens to wrap presents in the store adjacent to Center Court from 12pm to closing each day.

In addition to a variety of special holiday displays and events, the mall is nearing completion on an extensive $30 million renovation plan that includes a vibrant, brand-new interior design featuring a dining court and live entertainment performance area, new flooring, lighting and other amenities, as well as extensive exterior building, site and landscape improvements. The mall renovation is on track to be completed by January 2012.
