    NEW YORK, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Space, the final frontier.  TNN will
 explore strange new worlds, seek out new audiences and boldly go where no
 other network has gone before to become the official home of the STAR TREK
 franchise, with the rights to three STAR TREK series and five movies for the
 next ten years.  TNN will premiere the first of its series, STAR TREK: THE
 NEXT GENERATION, with a weeklong marathon titled NEXT GEN ON TNN: A 5-DAY
 MISSION, Monday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Oct. 5.  TNN will devote its entire
 programming schedule that week to STAR TREK programming, even Monday evening's
 WWF RAW IS WAR telecast will include STAR TREK bits.
     NEXT GEN ON TNN: A 5-DAY MISSION will include the most popular episodes of
 the first STAR TREK spin-off series, three of the STAR TREK movies and an
 original documentary.  Michael Dorn (Lt. Commander Worf), Jonathan Frakes
 (Comdr. William T. Riker), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi) and Wil
 Wheaton (Ensign Wesley Crusher), stars of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, will
 add to the celebration by hosting the marathon, offering viewers personal
 tidbits and memories of the series.

 STAR TREK has endured as a pop culture phenomena with its great characters,
 dramatic story lines and incredible casts.  For these reasons, STAR TREK has

     The weeklong marathon blasts-off on Monday, Oct. 1 (9:00 AM - 7:00 PM,
 ET/PT) with three STAR TREK movies.  They are STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KAHN
 FRONTIER (1989).
     The marathon continues that evening with the premiere of a TNN original
 documentary special, AMERICA LOVES ... STAR TREK (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT).
 Marking the 35th anniversary of television's most enduring programs, the
 special explores STAR TREK status as a pop culture phenomenon and the impact
 the series has on society.  The special includes interviews with former cast
 and production team members, space experts and devout fans.  AMERICA LOVES ...
 STAR TREK is produced exclusively for TNN by Kralyevich Productions, Inc.
 (KPI), whose credits include A&E's "Biography" and Bravo's "Profiles."
     In total, NEXT GEN ON TNN: A 5-DAY MISSION will feature 77 episodes of the
 most popular episodes of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, as chosen by fans via
 an informal search of the Internet.  Monday will open with the best episodes
 of  the  series  from  season  one, including the two-part series debut,
 "Encounter at Farpoint."  Monday's episodes will telecast at
 8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT and from 11:00 PM - 3:00 AM ET/PT. Tuesday through Friday,
 the marathon will telecast from 9:00 AM - 3:00 AM, ET/PT.  Tuesday will
 feature the most popular episodes from seasons two and three; Wednesday,
 seasons four and five; Thursday, season six and Friday episodes from the
 seventh and final season of the series, including the series finale, "All Good
     STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION is set in the 24th century, with the fifth
 Federation Starship U.S.S. Enterprise on a mission of deep-space exploration
 and diplomacy.  At the helm of the ship is Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick
 Stewart) and his crew including Commander Riker, Lt. Commander Geordi LaForge
 (LeVar Burton) and Starfleet Counselor Deanna Troi.  Also on board are
 Lt. Commander Worf, Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and her son Ensign
 Wesley Crusher.  STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION first premiered in syndication
 in September 1987 and over the course of seven seasons, won 16 Emmy Awards.
     Following the NEXT GEN ON TNN: A 5-DAY MISSION weeklong marathon, STAR
 TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION will move to its regularly scheduled timeslot,
 Monday-Friday at 8:00 PM, ET/PT and 11:00 PM, ET/PT, starting Monday, Oct. 8.
     In addition to STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, TNN will telecast STAR
 TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE beginning in the fall 2004 and STAR TREK: VOYAGER in
 late 2006.
