WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom Gibson, former managing partner of
Kirkwood/Gibson -- a business, communications, and public affairs consulting
company, has joined the White House Writers Group (WHWG), the nation's leading
message management firm. Founded in 1993 by former speechwriters for
Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, the Group has brought Mr.
Gibson on as a Senior Director.
Mr. Gibson brings more than a decade of public and private sector
experiences to WHWG's corporate, legal and public affairs clients.
Previously, Mr. Gibson was Director of Special Projects, reporting directly to
the CEO of MCI. Mr. Gibson was recruited to MCI from the Wexler Group, where
he was Senior Vice President and Director Communications. At Wexler, Mr.
Gibson managed major communications and public affairs projects for Fortune
500 companies, major trade associations, top international foundations, and
government bodies.
In addition to consulting and communications work, Mr. Gibson is a
freelance cartoonist, whose work is frequently featured in the Washington
Post.
From 1985 to 1987, Mr. Gibson was Special Presidential Assistant and
Director of White House Public Affairs. From 1983 to 1985, Mr. Gibson was
associate Director of White House Cabinet Affairs and managed the Cabinet
Councils on Economic Affairs, Legal Policy and Management and Administration.
Mr. Gibson was also an editor on the Opinion staff of USA Today, at its
founding.
Mr. Gibson began his work in Washington as a free-lance cartoonist, and
then, Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Dewey Bartlett, where he managed
issues related to foreign affairs and armed services. Mr. Gibson received a
B.A. degree cum laude in Politics from Princeton University and holds an
M.P.A. from Harvard.
