TOMORROW: CMS Administrator Don Berwick and Former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle and Bill Frist to Headline Bipartisan Policy Center Briefing
WASHINGTON, June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center's (BPC) Health Project will release a new report on the role of health information technology (IT) in delivery system, payment and insurance reforms this Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C. Health Project co-chairs and former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle and Bill Frist will be at the event to announce the BPC's new Task Force on Delivery System Reform and Health IT, followed by keynote remarks from Dr. Donald M. Berwick, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The event, entitled, Leveraging Health Information Technology to Build a Strong Foundation for America's Health Care System, will also feature leading experts from the health IT industry, including: Dr. Soma Stout, Vice President of Patient Centered Medical Home Development, and Internist and Pediatrician, Cambridge Health Alliance; Dr. David Voran, Medical Director, Heartland Clinic; and Russell Branzell, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Poudre Valley Health System. The panel will be moderated by Ceci Connolly, Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Co. and former national health policy correspondent at The Washington Post.
The BPC's Health IT Initiative was launched in April 2011 and is led by Janet Marchibroda. In addition to Senators Daschle and Frist, the Health Project is also co-chaired by former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.
