The Path to the Rock Band Competition Leads Right Through The Venue

CHICAGO, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Fans of the hit video game "Rock Band 2" are challenged to take their virtual group on tour and hit The Venue stage at Horseshoe Casino for the Total Rock, Total Rewards Rock Band Competition, in partnership with Harrah's Entertainment and Harmonix Promotions and Events, Inc.

Horseshoe Casino is one of seventeen Harrah's Entertainment properties to host six local, weekly Rock Band competitions allowing fans of the popular game a chance to win a prize package including tickets to their choice of concert at The Venue and dinner at the Village Square Buffet, plus an opportunity to advance to the Regional Finals for a chance to win a VIP Suite Package to The Venue and dinner at Jack Binion's Steak House. The Regional Finals hosted by MTV talent will take place at Chicagoland's premiere entertainment center, The Venue at Horseshoe Casino, on April 24. Regional winning team members will each receive an XBox 360 console with a Rock Band game bundle, a trip to Atlantic City to compete in the national finals and eight tickets to see the B-52's perform.

The ultimate winning band at the House of Blues competition on May 8 will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open for the legendary B-52's at the House of Blues in Atlantic City on May 9 and will win $10,000 in prize money, making this the richest Rock Band competition in history.

The Horseshoe Casino competition will be open to pre-registered, four-member amateur bands, 21 years and older, on a first come first serve basis held every Friday night March 6-April 10 from 9:00 pm - 11 pm next to The Venue, with the local finals held on April 17. On March 13, the competition will start at a special time, 7:00 pm, as an opening act for U2 tribute band, Vertigo USA, in the Venue as part of Horseshoe's early St. Patty's Day party. Free registration is available at www.chicagohorseshoe.com, all participants must be Total Rewards members. Total Rewards membership is free by signing up at the Total Rewards Center on the main gaming floor at Horseshoe Casino or at the Rock Band stage on competition nights. To add to the excitement, guests can check out on-air Q101 personalities Electra and Alex Quigley on location broadcasting all the live Rock Band action on March 20 as well as WLUP's "The Loop" personalities Guy Bauer and Eddie Webb on March 27.

The Rock Band scoring system will be used to score the participating rock bands on skill and performance and a pre-determined song list will be provided for all the competitions.
