Leshney, 42, a veteran senior leader with strong business operations, sales development and financial skills, as president of the company.
Former president David Schofield will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer, assisting Leshney with day-to-day operations and focusing on new business initiatives.
Ultra Mobile focuses on delivering innovative, cost effective mobile voice, text and data services for the estimated 40 million foreign-born people living in the United States who regularly call or text internationally. Its calling plans reach 59 countries and territories. The company has enjoyed significant growth from its launch in 2012 and now includes over 100 team members and offices in Costa Mesa and Long Island City, N.Y.
Before joining Ultra Mobile, Leshney served as executive vice president of the 300-person, Los Angeles-based information services firm LAC Group. He was responsible for corporate strategy and business development for the provider of information staffing, management and curation services and worked to drive solutions for Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, Hollywood studios and leading law firms.
Previously, Leshney spent over a decade in the media services industry focusing on the transition of physical to file-based content. His tenure included executive management positions with Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, where he founded the Deluxe Archive Solutions group and led day-to-day operations for the company's 275 person, 105,000 square foot Media Services facility in Burbank, Calif. He was ultimately elevated to the position of senior vice president assuming the leadership position for Deluxe Media's worldwide sales and strategic development efforts.
Earlier in his career, Leshney spent five years with Liberty Media-owned Ascent Media Group, Inc., where he was responsible for corporate development and then operating its media division for the provider of post-production, media-management and network-distribution services to broadcast and cable television networks, motion picture studios and advertising agencies.
Leshney, who holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University, began his career in investment banking with Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., in New York and then moved to the private equity community as an associate with TWC/Crescent Mezzanine, L.L.C., in Los Angeles evaluating buyouts, M&A and corporate recapitalizations.
