Underwriters Laboratories UL Europe Safety Certification Mark Supports European Market Access for Customers Worldwide
Manufacturers can now have products certified by a combined UL Mark
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its global market access strategy, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a world leader in safety testing and certification services, announced today its UL Europe Mark (UL-EU). Manufacturers seeking the option of reducing the number of certification marks appearing on a product, now have the option of obtaining the UL-EU Mark in combination with the United States and Canada Listing Marks. The new UL combined Mark represents the first transcontinental mark available to manufacturers from UL's portfolio of Marks.
"Safety is a global concern," said Keith Williams, UL's President and CEO. "Manufacturers and consumers share a concern that products entering the global marketplace are safe for use. Add to that the pressure to get products to market quickly and it becomes imperative that manufacturers have a single source for global safety certification. The pan-EU Mark supports our commitment to ensuring safe products worldwide."
There are several benefits for manufacturers that obtain the UL-EU Mark in combination with the UL Listing Marks for Canada and the U.S. These include efficiencies gained by taking a given product through the safety testing and certification process once, receiving authorization to apply the combined UL certification Mark to demonstrate compliance to the marketplace and leveraging that single source for post market compliance. For consumers, the new UL-EU Mark means that they can look for UL on the products they buy and know that the products have been tested and certified to the high safety standards for which UL is known.
