WASHINGTON, Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) released the following statement today after President Obama appointed Cecilia Munoz as the new Director of the Domestic Policy Council:

The daughter of immigrants from Bolivia, Cecilia Munoz has been a prominent voice and fervent advocate for changes to the broken immigration policy of the United States. Munoz is currently the White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, where she serves as a liaison between the White House and mayors, governors and other officials across the country.  

In her new role as director of the Domestic Policy Council, she will oversee policy making on a range of domestic issues, including education, energy and health care. She will continue to coordinate immigration policy for the White House.
