Comprehensive Hosted Software Solution to Help Independent Resellers More

DES PLAINES, Ill., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Stationers Inc.
(Nasdaq: USTR), North America's largest broad line wholesale distributor of

have jointly created the SAP Hosted Solution for Business Products Resellers.
The objective of this solution, presented jointly by the two companies at
United Stationers' recent Vision 2006 Conference in Las Vegas, is to empower
customers of United -- independent business products resellers -- to compete
more effectively in an environment in which technology has dramatically
changed consumer buying habits.

the assistance of an advisory council of independent dealers, we worked with
SAP America to develop the SAP Hosted Solution for Business Products Resellers
to make these businesses more competitive."

State-of-the-Art Approach
The SAP Hosted Solution for Business Products Resellers will be sold,
implemented, managed and serviced by SAP, with the support of selected SAP
business partners. The program is designed to simplify the evaluation,
adoption, management and evolution of business management solutions for
independent business products resellers. It will offer a breadth and depth of
office products industry process automation and optimization in a complete
turnkey, end-to-end solution. In addition, this technology solution is
"supplier neutral," enabling resellers to continue to buy as they always have,
using a system that will accept content from United Stationers, and other
wholesalers currently serving the supply chain.
The system provides a number of benefits:
-- A software solution for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) including
finance, order management and logistics.
-- A comprehensive content management solution developed by United and
delivered to business products resellers by SAP, specifically designed
to manage office products content, including all content objects and
types, with delivery through multiple channels.
-- A fully customizable e-commerce solution, to make the independent
reseller's customers Web site shopping and buying experience fast, easy
and friendly, with a depth of product offering in all categories.
