SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Protection Service, one of the nation's top 10 largest security guard companies, has been placed on an exclusive list of approved providers from the Department of Homeland Security, and now offers its clients Safety Act protection. In addition to the providing of security guard services, Universal Protection Service was also awarded Safety Act protection for Emergency Preparedness Services, which includes Fire/Life Safety Training. Universal Protection Service is covered under the Safety Act for "comprehensive fire/life safety and emergency preparedness services, including preparation of building plans, development of emergency response plans, training building personnel on fire/life safety issues, conducting fire drills and preparing for emergency events."

The Safety Act was enacted by Congress in 2002 as part of the Homeland Security Act to encourage the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies that will enhance the protection of our nation. With protection under the Safety Act, Universal Protection Service clients will receive limitation on liability to third parties to a predetermined amount of liability insurance coverage, exclusive jurisdiction in federal court for suits against Universal Protection Service, prohibition on joint and several liability for non-economic damages, a complete bar on punitive damages and prejudgment interest, and a reduction in the plaintiffs' recovery by amounts that the plaintiff receives from collateral sources.
