Aug 10, 2004, 01:00 ET from Sentillion, Inc.

ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentillion, Inc., the leading
provider of identity and access management solutions to the healthcare
industry, announced today that University Hospitals Health System (UHHS) has
selected Vergence(R) technology to comply with the Ohio State Board of
Pharmacy Positive Identification regulations. The Ohio State Board of
Pharmacy requires all organizations that use computerized pharmacy and
medication ordering applications to comply with the positive identification
UHHS will use Vergence for strong authentication and single sign-on in
combination with Ensure Technologies' proximity technology, XyLoc MD(TM), to
positively identify UHHS users of the Eclipsys E7000 Computerized Physician
Order Entry (CPOE) application. Vergence will ensure that any individual
involved in dispensing, administering or prescribing drugs is securely
authenticated to the CPOE system through the use of the XyLoc proximity
devices. Sentillion is a distributor of the XyLoc solution to the healthcare
"Patient safety is and always has been of paramount concern to us," says
Carl Lufter, director of the UHHS Pharmacy Administration. "We scrutinized
multiple technologies and vendors before concluding that Sentillion was the
only vendor with a complete understanding of our healthcare workflow and a
clear strategy and product line to fulfill Ohio Board of Pharmacy Positive ID
The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy requires that same level of
authentication in electronic systems as it does with paper-based orders that
are signed by the caregiver. After concluding that passwords, traditionally
used to authenticate a user's identity, were insufficient, the Ohio State
Board of Pharmacy issued new regulations that require computer-based positive
identification. Under these new regulations, healthcare organizations must
have a system that can determine positive identification for all professionals
 involved in medication-related procedures.
"Sentillion applauds the state of Ohio for its identification initiatives.
The Board's focus on positive identification is clearly in line with
Sentillion's mission of augmenting security in healthcare institutions in ways
that actually increase caregiver productivity, and we look forward to helping
more hospitals like UHHS to achieve compliance," said Paul Roscoe, senior vice
president of field operations at Sentillion. "Our work with UHHS has given
Sentillion unique insights into the challenges of creating secure
identification systems while ensuring that users get the access they need in a
timely manner. UHHS is a leader in the northern Ohio region and we anticipate
they will achieve compliance in the months to come."
Sentillion's Vergence product was designed specifically to meet the
