U.S. News Media Group Announces Inaugural Rankings of Most Connected Classrooms in High Schools

WASHINGTON, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News Media Group today released the first-ever edition of the Most Connected Classrooms rankings for high schools. Drawing from the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, the list of 185 ranked schools was chosen based on the modernity and sophistication of high schools' online infrastructures, and the access students, faculty, and parents have to them at school and home.

While Crooms Academy fits the expected profile of a well-connected school – large, suburban, magnet – many of the schools featured in the rankings can be found in remote areas where Internet access and wireless signals are less readily available.

"Internet connection and computer technologies are shaping the future classroom for students and teachers," said U.S.News & World Report Editor and Chief Content Officer Brian Kelly.  "With its first ranking of the country's Most Connected Classrooms, U.S.News & World Report is recognizing high schools leading the charge."

All public high schools ranked in the most recent U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, published in December 2009, were eligible for inclusion in the inaugural Most Connected Classrooms rankings. All of the operating high schools were asked to participate, and the 301 returned surveys were analyzed based on various indicators of connectivity, including Internet speed and wireless access, computer access, connectivity to school from home, and additional technological resources. In an exclusive arrangement, the launch of the 2011 Most Connected Classrooms is being sponsored by Dell.  For more information about U.S. News Best High Schools, visit www.usnews.com/highschools or find us on Facebook or Twitter.
