U.S. News Media Group Releases 2010 Career Guide
- Online package highlights over 50 careers in growing industries -
WASHINGTON, Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News Media Group today unveiled its 2010 Best Careers guide exclusively online at www.usnews.com/careers. With more than 15 million Americans out of work, the U.S. News Best Careers list is a timely and effective resource for those searching for new employment opportunities.
In addition to featuring extensive profiles on the top 50 careers among the best growth forecasts, the U.S. News package also includes detailed information on a range of industries to help visitors navigate through the difficult job market, and identify occupations that promise growth, above-average incomes, and stability over the next decade.
The Best Careers list, which integrates job growth projection data from the Department of Labor for 2008-2018, includes professions in five distinct categories: science & technology, healthcare, education & civic, business & finance, and creative & service. In addition, the career profiles include information on professional development and upward mobility, as well as activity and stress levels, and highlight occupations with varying educational or training requirements.
"While no industry was spared from the misery of layoffs or hiring freezes last year, some have fared better than others," said Liz Wolgemuth, U.S. News' Career Editor. "In producing the 2010 Best Careers, we accounted for all types of job seekers -- from recent college graduates to the freshly unemployed -- and developed a list of the most promising careers in a range of fields."
Visitors to USNews.com can not only research a variety of careers online, but can also find real-time job listings through our search tool -- powered by Simply Hired.
The 2010 Best Careers selection criteria were based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including: Highest percentage growth, absolute number growth, above-average median income, and, where data could be found, higher rates of job satisfaction.
