U.S. Senate Candidate Comments On Republican Debate Sunday And The NY U.S. Senate Race

ITHACA, N.Y., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Scott Noren , U.S. Senate candidate running as a Progressive Independent, comments as follows on the Republican debate sponsored by Time Warner Cable's Capital Tonight Show and NY1. The candidates featured are Wendy Long , George Maragos and Bob Turner .

"There is a resemblance between Wendy Long , Bob Turner , George Maragos , and Kirsten Gillibrand . Two of them never wrote a successful jobs bill (Turner or Gillibrand) and none have yet to write a proposed jobs bill with national job-stimulating potential either." In fact, as Noren points out, after editing her web site recently, Senator Gillibrand lists two bills that are credited to her as jobs bills and never made it out of committee. One was introduced in September 2010 (Upstate Works Act), and the other (Urban Jobs Act) May 9th, 2011. Additionally, the Upstate Works Act never got a co-sponsor, including senior Senator of NY, Charles Schumer .

The debate was devoid of an actual jobs plan, and all candidates espoused cutting taxes as a stimulus, especially to corporations. Congressman Turner stood out by saying that he would close tax loopholes for businesses even if construed as a 'tax hike'.

Other strange statements included Turner commenting on the Syria crisis that we have 'yet to find out who are the bad guys'. They all advocated no military intervention, but Maragos advocated pressure on 'Russia' and the Arab League. Other noteworthy statements came up on Supreme Court nominees; Turner 'likes Justices Roberts and Olito 'type appointments', and Long doesn't feel 'that there are any conservative activists on the current Supreme Court'.

Wendy Long would also never attend a same-sex marriage ceremony, despite being a staunch 'women's rights activist'.

Dr. Noren's final comment is that there is still poor media coverage overall of one candidates major student loan reform, unique jobs bill not involving Wall Street, immediate raise of Federal minimum wage and anti-fracking platforms. That campaign he says "of course is my platform".
