U.S.A. Pavilion Secures Support of Leading Global Companies; Continues Successful Effort to Showcase American Innovation and Culture at Shanghai World Expo 2010

Deloitte And Honeywell Take Important Sponsorship Roles

PASADENA, Calif., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Deloitte China and Honeywell - two companies widely accepted as industry leaders in their respective sectors - became official sponsors of the U.S.A. National Pavilion at the 2010 World's Fair to be held in Shanghai.

The companies will provide their world-class expertise to the U.S. Pavilion, enabling it to showcase the best of American innovation, culture and ingenuity to millions of visitors at the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

Deloitte will be the official accounting and tax advisor of the U.S. Pavilion, while Honeywell will contribute cash, products and solutions, such as advanced building automation and digital public address systems. In addition, Honeywell will help manage its project, contribute design ideas and provide onsite maintenance to the 6,000-square meter U.S.A. National Pavilion that will have many environmental features.

Nick Winslow, president of the U.S.A. Pavilion, said Deloitte and Honeywell are making valuable contributions. "The support offered by Deloitte and Honeywell will allow the U.S. Pavilion to showcase American innovation and way of life," he said.

Deloitte will establish a team of accounting and tax professionals to support the development and management of the U.S. Pavilion during the Expo.

To support the "Better City, Better Life" theme of Expo 2010, one of the technologies contributed by Honeywell will be its Web-Enabling Building Solutions (WEBS) that optimize energy consumption, creating a secure and safe environment.

"We are honored to participate in the most dynamic world expo in history," said Mr. Chris Lu, CEO, Deloitte China. "China and the U.S. are two major forces in the global economic order, and are two of the important markets for Deloitte so it is fitting and we are delighted to participate in the Shanghai World Expo by contributing our professional services to the U.S.A. Pavilion."

"Honeywell's technology portfolio matches the Expo's theme well. The U.S.A. Pavilion offers a remarkable opportunity for us to have a featured role in a unique and unparalleled experience in this historical event," said Shane Tedjarati, President and CEO of Honeywell China and India. "Honeywell is a global leader in energy efficiency, environmental protection, and safety and security. We are excited to demonstrate to China and the 70 million visitors expected to attend the Expo in Shanghai that Honeywell technologies are helping to build a better world."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasized the importance of participating in the U.S. Pavilion in Shanghai during a visit to the construction site last month. President Barack Obama also talked about the importance of the U.S. Pavilion in remarks to students at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum during his trip to China.

"The Shanghai Expo is an extraordinary opportunity to showcase American innovation, leadership and culture," said Jose Villarreal, U.S. Commissioner General to the World Expo Shanghai 2010. "The U.S. Pavilion presents a remarkable opening for American companies in one of the world's fastest growing markets, and it will strengthen cooperation and partnership between the American people and the people of China."

"Support for the U.S. Pavilion continues to grow as companies recognize that this is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Winslow. "Every company that has an interest in China should consider getting involved."

The first-ever World Expo held in China will run from May through October 2010, and it is expected to attract 70 million visitors - more than any Expo in 150 years of Expo or World Trade Fair history. To date, 192 countries and 45 international organizations have accepted invitations to attend the World Expo, the largest number in Expo history.

The U.S.A. Pavilion is a 501(c)3 entity with offices based in Pasadena.

Corporate sponsors of the U.S.A. Pavilion include: Boeing Co., Chevron Corp., Dell, Deloitte LLP, Dow Chemical, General Electric Co., Honeywell International Inc., Intel Corp., Johnson & Johnson, Marriott, Microsoft, Motorola, the New York Stock Exchange, Panasonic Integrated Systems, Procter & Gamble Co., Pfizer Ltd., PepsiCo Inc., Qualcomm Inc., Wal-Mart, and Yum!
