"uSens is solely focused on improving the way humans interact with augmented and virtual reality," said Yue Fei, uSens CTO. "With our SDK, developers will be able to get a head start using the latest HCI tech for their ARVR apps. Our uDev Challenge is an opportunity for developers to create the most naturally interactive 3D experiences and push the boundaries of virtual reality. And, who knows, maybe we'll find the next killer ARVR app!"
Timeline for the uDev Challenge in the U.S.:
- October 15, 2016: Deadline for applications to the uDev Challenge via the uSens website
- November 1, 2016: Announcement of U.S. semifinalists during the Unity Unite 2016 event in Los Angeles

- February 27-March 3, 2017: Announcement of grand prize winner and other finalists during the Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco
Original apps made for Samsung Gear VR™, Google Cardboard™, HTC Vive™, or Oculus Rift™ are eligible for the contest. They may target any industry —gaming, education, enterprise, healthcare, or other use cases— as long as the app is developed using the uSens SDK and entry-level Fingo. Apps will be evaluated based on their creativity, user experience, overall polish, business potential, and the application of uSens hand-tracking technologies. The Fingo device and support will be provided by the uSens engineering team.
Read the official contest Terms and Conditions for additional details on the application process, entry guidelines, judging criteria, and prizes. Submit applications through the uSens contest web page at http://www.usens.com/contest/.
The uSens uDev Developer Network
uSens launched its uDev network in August 2016 to help the developer community integrate the company's industry-leading, inside-out 26DOF (Degrees of Freedom) hand tracking and 6DOF head tracking technology in their ARVR projects. uDev offers comprehensive developer kits and support for popular integrated development environments (IDEs) and work flows. uSens software currently supports Unity 3D, Java, C++, and C# for mobile and PC developers, with more development environments to come.
The new uSens Fingo series of three modules offers advanced 3D human-computer interaction capability for both mobile and tethered systems. By attaching a Fingo to the front of a head-mounted display (HMD), end users can enjoy their favorite apps without major sacrifices to system power consumption or performance - even on mobile. The entry-level Fingo module enables developers to add 26DOF controller-free hand tracking and marker-based 6DOF head position tracking while minimizing consumption of device battery and processing.
