OnBase Healthcare Solutions also addresses UT Southwestern University

Hospitals' Revenue Cycle

CLEVELAND, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyland Software, Inc., developer of the
OnBase(R) enterprise content management (ECM) software suite, has been named
by UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UT Southwestern), a leading
national academic medical center, patient-care provider and research
institution, as the organization's enterprise document management provider.
The implementation of OnBase will address the integration of document
management technologies with UT Southwestern's electronic medical records
(EMR) system through the elimination of the use and storage of paper
documentation in the ambulatory clinical setting. The EMR system, from Epic
Systems Corporation ( www.epicsys.com ), is being deployed in UT
Southwestern's 35+ outpatient clinics. Recently, President Bush called on
hospitals to move their medical records from paper to electronic, a change
that is designed to improve patient safety and patient care delivery.
In addition, OnBase will be used to streamline UT Southwestern's
University Hospitals' Revenue Cycle, reducing the need for the generation and
storage of paper backup for the Hospital Revenue Cycle System processes. This
reduction will decrease the inefficiencies, limitations and escalating expense
of managing the paper documentation and varied electronic files in the Cycle.
"The implementation of OnBase will provide the means to complete our
ambulatory electronic health record, enabling us to provide outstanding
patient care and contain costs associated with our clinical areas," said Kirk
Kirksey, Vice President, Information Resources at UT Southwestern. "We also
are looking to OnBase to systematically streamline operations and reduce costs
associated with the University Hospitals' Revenue Cycle - from registration
and patient accounting, through admissions, remittance and reconciliation."
"The benefits realized with enterprise-wide document management systems
exceed those typically associated with traditional imaging systems," said Ed
McQuiston, director of Healthcare Markets at Hyland. "By implementing OnBase
across multiple departments, UT Southwestern will increase efficiencies in the
Revenue Cycle, augment its existing EMR and minimize the IT resources to
 support them."
UT Southwestern's initial deployment of Hyland OnBase in the University
Hospitals includes the Patient Access Services (Admissions) and Patient
Financial Services (PFS) departments. There are approximately 20 Admissions
areas with over 150 Admissions personnel who need capture and/or retrieval
access to the OnBase system. The PFS is located off-campus and has a staff of
approximately 35 personnel. The total 2005 patient admission volume
projection for all hospitals is approximately 100,000 patients.
