Veteran Graphic Novelist Joins Heinlein's Kickstarter Team

HOUSTON, March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Robert Heinlein graphic novel Kickstarter project welcomes award winning, veteran artist Steve Erwin.  Erwin will serve as lead artist on Heinlein's Citizen of the Galaxy graphic novel project, which is seeking to raise $26,400 by Mar. 31.

As an artist for DC Comics, Erwin has worked on titles such as Batman Returns, Deathstroke the Terminator, and Star Trek: The Ashes of Eden.  He created the superhero team Checkmate! and the mercenary, anti-hero Gunfire. 

After more than a decade drawing comic books primarily for DC Comics, Erwin served as the art director for an international promotions manufacturing company designing children's toys, storyboarding commercials, and creating concept work for many different products.

Erwin has also worked on the movies Star Wars - Episode One, Batman & Robin, and Godzilla as well as the television shows DC Comics Superheroes, Rugrats, Looney Tunes, Superman - The Animated Series, and Batman Beyond.

Born in Tulsa, Okla., Erwin studied commercial art at Oklahoma State University at Okmulgee.  In 2007 Erwin was inducted into the Oklahoma Cartoonist Hall of Fame.

About the Heinlein Virginia Edition Kickstarter Project

The Heinlein Virginia Edition Kickstater project seeks to broaden Heinlein's enduring legacy and influence by translating the works of one of the greatest literary writers into the medium of graphic novels.  The Robert Heinlein: Citizen of the Galaxy graphic novel project (Goal $26,400) seeks to illustrate Heinlein's classic story for a new generation to discover as well as for existing fans to rediscover.  If Citizen of the Galaxy is successful other Heinlein titles from his Virginia Edition, the complete and definitive collection of all of Robert Heinlein's published works, will be considered for adaptation into graphic novels with artists such as Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise, Echo), Guy Gilchrist (The Muppets, Nancy), and Collen Doran (Spider-man, Wonder Woman).
