VH1 Classic Releases Original 'Pop-Up Video' Online at VH1Classic.com
Online Archive of 'Popped' Videos Joins VH1 Mobile's 'Pop Up Mobile To Go'
in Expansion of Popular Music Series
NEW YORK, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 Classic, a division of Viacom's
( VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks, is bringing back the original "Pop-Up
Video" series online at VH1Classic.com. Beginning today, close to 50
"popped" videos from artists including Madonna, Michael Jackson, Culture
Club and Whitney Houston are available on demand. Additional videos will be
added to the online archives in early January 2008.
Until now, the popular music series, which aired on VH1 from 1996-2002
was not available online and has only rarely been seen on TV since the
series ended. Videos included in the initial online launch include:
"Karma Chameleon" by Culture Club
"Girls Just Want to Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper
"Rio" by Duran Duran
"Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS
"Express Yourself" by Madonna
"Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye
"Black or White" by Michael Jackson
The online release of the "Pop-Up Video" archives is VH1's latest
effort to extend the series that pairs music videos with trivia and facts
about artists and their videos. In September VH1 extended the pop-up
franchise on VH1 Mobile with a made-for-mobile version of the series called
"Pop Up Mobile to Go." The mobile series, which offers the pop-up treatment
to more current artists and videos has seen significant success on VH1
Mobile and has added to the tremendous growth VH1 Mobile has seen in the
last few months. Streams on VH1 Mobile in October grew 31% over the prior
month and increased 233% versus the same time period last year. New videos
from artists including, Beck, Snoop Dogg and Amy Winehouse will launch
throughout 2008 on VH1 Mobile's "Pop Up Video To Go," which is available on
all mobile carriers.
VH1Classic.com, the online extension of the TV channel dedicated to the
classic music and artists of the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s re-launched in
April 2007. The video library includes thousands of videos from artists
ranging from Led Zeppelin and The Sex Pistols, to Madonna and Nirvana, as
well as new videos and exclusive performances by Bruce Springsteen, Mick
Jagger and AC/DC.
Launched in May 2000, VH1 Classic is a 24-hour network that presents
videos, concerts and music specials all day long, featuring the best of
rock, soul and pop artists from the 60's, 70's and 80's, including The
Beatles, The Stones, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin, Marvin Gaye, The Who,
Stevie Wonder, The Police and many more. Learn more at
