NEW YORK, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- A congressional coalition of energy
efficiency advocates announced plans for proposed legislative action for a
major shift toward incorporating high-efficiency lighting technologies in
home and office settings. The call-to-action was introduced by Philips
Lighting North America, the Lighting Efficiency Coalition, Congressman Don
Manzullo (R- Ill.) and Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) to support the adoption
of more energy- efficient lighting in North America.

The Philips-led Coalition is seeking to phase-out inefficient lamps
through the substitution of existing energy-efficient alternatives -- such
as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), halogen lamps, and light emitting
diodes (LEDs). These bulbs are not only a better environmental choice than
incandescent light bulbs, but are more energy-efficient to operate.
By adopting the proposed call-to-action, Americans can make a
significant economic and ecologically responsible impact on the
environmental footprint of North America and the rest of the world.
