VillageCare and StarlingHealth Awarded Funding by PILOT Health Tech NYC to Improve Care Delivery in Skilled Nursing Facility
NEW YORK, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- VillageCare, a community-based, non-profit organization serving people with chronic care needs, as well as seniors and individuals in need of continuing care and rehabilitation services, and StarlingHealth, a technology firm creating next-generation systems for patient-provider communication and workflow management, were selected by PILOT Health Tech NYC to receive a $100k innovation award to deploy the Starling platform at the VillageCare Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a 105 bed skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center in Manhattan.
VillageCare and Starling will use this funding to deploy touchscreen tablets at each bedside that empower residents to make requests to care providers in eight languages, view facility-specific education materials and provide real-time feedback to administrators. Care providers will be equipped with mobile devices to receive requests and communicate with residents, and a web portal will enable administrators to oversee resident needs and facility workflows.
"VillageCare is constantly on the lookout for solutions that help provide the highest standard of care for our patients," says Emma DeVito, President and Chief Executive Officer at VillageCare. "The Pilot Health Tech program was a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to literally dozens of exciting NYC based healthtech startups. Ultimately, we chose to partner with Starling on this initiative because it's a technology platform that helps us provide better, more responsive care to our residents while reducing the cost of care delivery".
