Vinzy Finally Makes the Connection Between Good Wines and Consumers

New wine commerce company says "cork the status quo"

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Vinzy today announced the private launch of their online curated wine shop - vinzy.com - directed at the boutique and luxury wine market. Vinzy is breaking traditional wine marketing by eschewing scores, being selective about wines they feature, ignoring the corporate wineries and bypassing the middlemen.

Currently open by invitation only, Vinzy makes wine selection easier by dropping the scores, and instead determining a drinking style for its select customers in order to recommend exclusive wines to their taste. Through its Web and mobile apps (available for iPhone and iPad in the Apple App Store), Vinzy is one of the new breed of wine commerce platforms that allow for direct shipment from wineries, thus eliminating middlemen that currently control the wine industry and providing better selection, better wineries and lower cost shipping.

"Good wine is so hard to find," says CEO Drew Falkman, "and the online sites like wine.com and Wine Library and even newcomer to the market Amazon.com have done absolutely nothing to help this. It's really quite stupid because direct shipping laws open up a whole world of small wineries and delicious wines – but no one is really helping with this selection by simply curating as they have in other markets."

Vinzy is winery-centric, each winery is highlighted, allowing the purchaser to become familiar with their philosophy and learn more about them before buying their wines. And only producers and wines that have been tasted and approved will be allowed on the site to begin with – offering a smaller selection but allowing for greater confidence in purchases.

Vinzy members will also be awarded points for each purchase - and for sharing their activities on social networks - that they can use for savings on wine in the future. Regular purchases will be granted free shipping. Vinzy as a company is also committed to giving back and will donate a portion of proceeds to charity.

"We offer our customers reasons to use our apps," adds Falkman, "which is why we aren't afraid to let wineries and customers interact. In fact we love it – if everyone is happy, then we will be kept in the mix."

When you first log on to Vinzy, you will be prompted to answer a few questions – Vinzy will use this to identify your taste and suggest wines to you. You can also find wines via recommendations from sommeliers and well-known bloggers and writers who will be invited to post their recommendations at Vinzy.

Vinzy is currently shipping to California, Minnesota and District of Columbia - other states coming soon - and features red and white wines from California, Oregon and Washington.
