SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Due to severe winter storms along the East Coast, Virgin America is cancelling all flights departing to and originating from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) for Saturday, December 19, 2009.

Significant snowfall expected along the eastern seaboard is forcing the airline to cancel scheduled flights originating from and departing to IAD for Saturday, December 19, 2009. Guests on the affected flights are being contacted by Virgin America.

The airline is also encouraging all travelers headed to the East Coast to check their flight status and take advantage of the airline's current travel waiver. Guests with confirmed flights on Friday, December 18, 2009 and Saturday, December 19, 2009, may change their travel plans without paying change fees or the difference in fares.* Affected guests that contact Virgin America may change their travel dates within a seven day range.

Virgin America advises guests impacted by the severe weather to call Virgin America reservations at 1.877.FLY.VIRGIN (1.877.359.8474)** between the hours of 3:30AM and 11:30PM Pacific Time to make a change to their itinerary.
