Virtual Career Fair Connecting Service Members and Veterans with America's Leading Employers
May 29th VetFriendly career fair just one of the ways employer's are looking to recruit the Nation's finest
PHILADELPHIA, May 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Veteran Recruiting Services (VRS), the market leader for virtual career fairs for the military community, and more than 30 leading employers host the; VetFriendly virtual career fair on May 29th, 2013 from 1-4 PM EST
In April, VRS launched the VetFriendly 50,000 Jobs Challenge, and in just a few weeks, more than 30 of America's leading companies have stepped up to support.
Kevin O'Brien, Managing Partner VRS stated "Hiring veterans and military spouses is a great business decision for employers, and it is great to see that more and more employers are recognizing the untapped wealth of talent that exists in the military community. We know that with the help of our employer partners, that the goal of 50,000 hires will be met and exceeded well before the goal of 2018"
The May 29th virtual career fair is just the first in a series of events that VRS have planned for 2013 aimed at helping connect service members, veterans, and military spouses with employers who are looking to hire them.
"I'm deployed here in Saudi Arabia and used the virtual career fair to apply for employment for my spouse and I back home. This was a great way to see what is available prior to me leaving active duty, and the employer chat was really helpful. Thanks for your assistance, this was FANTASTIC!!!" Jason C. Captain U.S Army Reserve.
Unlike a traditional career fair, the VRS virtual career fairs allow employers to recruit nationwide, and in a few hours. Another big advantage is the VRS virtual career fair environment is open all the time, and veterans can access the employer booths anytime. This allows them to research the employer's before the actual career fair, view/apply for jobs, and also allows for direct email communication to the recruiters for each company.
Employers who will participate in the May 29th VetFriendly virtual career fair include; Aetna, Airgas, Capital One, Citi, Comerica Bank, Convergys, DaVita, Department of Energy, Exelon, Graybar, Horizon Coach Lines, InterContinental Hotels Group, Lowe's, Loyola Marymount University, Penske, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Philips, Progressive, Sears Holdings Corporation, Staples, The Mission Continues, Travelers, Transportation Security Administration, USAA, Union Pacific Railroad, Wal-Mart, Waste Management, Wells Fargo, and Xerox.
The focus at VRS is to create opportunities to bring employers, veterans, and military spouses together as quickly and easily as possible, and the VRS virtual career fair does just that. With more than 23,000 hired since September 2011, we believe the success and the logic behind our virtual approach will soon be adopted by many other employers and career fair organizers" Said O'Brien.
The VRS virtual career fair is open to all active duty, guard/reservists, veterans, and military spouses, and they can register and access at www.veteranrecruiting.com. In addition to the virtual career fairs, job seekers can also view a public calendar that will let them see when certain employers will be online, in their virtual booth, and available to chat live.
Employers who are interested in participating in an upcoming virtual career fair, or joining the VetFriendly 50,000 Jobs Challenge can do so at www.veteranrecruiuting.com
